I didn't wrote a song about 'Gezi' riots in 2013, a lot of people did...But recently i remembered that i did made an EP during the 'Gazi' riots back in 1995. I was horrified when the well provacated events had a bitter end after just 4 days,leaving 23 deads and hundreds of injured people behind...The rest of İstanbul was in pretty good shape, business as usual,nightlife didn't feel anything at all... Nothing was same afterwards,at least for me; i turned off my -then professional- studio, took my goood-old 4 track Tascam portastudio and closed myself literally in the well isolated drum room. I turned it instantly into a small home-studio with nice lighting,simple gear,posters on the walls etc. Then i recorded there some collage-style musical pieces in just 4 tracks,on a good quality compact casette..The material was news-broadcast recordings from turkish tv (mainly show-tv),answering machine recordings and some live to 2-track recordings we made in my studio just for fun with my musician friends ...plus i played some spontaneous solos with my banjo and other simple instruments...EP was not released. Only,'İslam Hakimiyeti' was a start for the track later called 'Batı Katarı'on my 'Avdet Seyri' album. 'Medya Tavırs' was also on that album,as it was mixed then on that 4-track tape.
In 2 months or so,i sold almost my entire studio gear following Gazi riots and turned to my analog equipment for a quiet while...
